چکیده
This is the second of two articles reprinted with permission from: Practice guideline for breast conservation therapy in the management of invasive breast carcinoma. In: Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards. Reston, VA: American College of Radiology;2006:443-468. In this reprinting "G" in Section IV is available in the Online version only. For Section VI please refer to the first publication of ductal carcinoma in-situ (J Am Coll Surg 2007:205:145-161). Parts of this article have been shortened for brevity. The full article is available through the American College of Radiology. The American College of Radiology, with more than 30,000 members, is the principal organization of radiologists, radiation oncologists, and clinical medical physicists in the United States. The College is a nonprofit professional society whose primary purposes are to advance the science of radiology, improve radiologic services to the patient, study the socioeconomic aspects of the practice of radiology, and encourage continuing education for radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and persons practicing in allied professional fields. The American College of Radiology will periodically define new practice guidelines and technical standards for radiologic practice to help advance the science of radiology and to improve the quality of service to patients throughout the United States. Existing practice guidelines and technical standards will be reviewed for revision or renewal, as appropriate, on their fifth anniversary or sooner, if indicated. Each practice guideline and technical standard, representing a policy statement by the College, has undergone a thorough consensus process in which it has been subjected to extensive review, requiring the approval of the Commission on Quality and Safety as well as the ACR Board of Chancellors, the ACR Council Steering Committee, and the ACR Council. The practice guidelines and technical standards recognize that the safe and effective use of diagnostic and therapeutic radiology requires specific training, skills, and techniques, as described in each document. Reproduction or modification of the published practice guideline and technical standard by those entities not providing these services is not authorized.

Evaluation of Immunohistochemistry-Equivocal (2+) HER2 Gene Status in Invasive Breast Cancer by Silver DNA in Situ Hybridization (SISH) and its Association with Clinicopathological Variables
Background and Objective:Determination of HER2 gene is crucial in breast carcinoma management and prognosis, as HER2 alterations are linked to a shorter disease-free period, overall survival and resistance to tamoxifen anti-estrogen therapy and other chemotherapy regimens, regardless of the nodal or hormone receptor status. This study aimed to...
متن کاملEvaluation Of The Androgen Receptor Status In Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Of Breast
Background and Objective: Determination of hormone receptor status in the management of breast cancer is well-established. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of androgen receptor (AR) expression in invasive ductal carcinoma of breast. Materials and Methods: For this purpose, 55 cases of invasive ductal breast carcinoma were examined using a monoclonal antibody against AR on...
متن کاملExpression of Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase Protein in Human Breast Cancer
Background & Objectives: Anaplastic lymphoma Kinase (ALK) is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in the genesis of several human cancers. ALK was initially identified because of its involvement in anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). ALK is believed to foster tumorigenesis following activation by autocrine and/or paracrine growth loops. Studies reveal that the presence of anti-ALK antibodies ...
متن کاملAssessment of the Association between Human Papillomavirus Infection and Breast Carcinoma
Background and Objectives: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women throughout the world. There are controversial reports on the role of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in breast carcinogenesis. The aim of this study was to assess the presence of HPV-DNA in invasive breast carcinoma to determine the association between HPV infection and breast carcinoma. Methods: The study inc...
متن کاملImmunohistochemical Evaluation of Human p53 Tumor Suppressor Protein Content in Ductal Carcinoma in Situ of the Breast
The focus of this study was to determine if early detection of mutant p53 accumulation may be an early indicator of tumor aggressiveness and transformation to invasive breast cancer. For this purpose, the p53 content of 100 human breast biopsies classified as ductal carcinoma (DCIS), was evaluated by immunohistochemical method. All specimens were microscopically classified into histologic types...
